2020 DANSE ELARGIE Call for Projects
DANSE ELARGIE / EXPANDED DANCE is a project devised by Boris Charmatz, choreographer, and Emmanuel Demarcy-Mota, director of the Théâtre de la Ville,in continued partnership with the Fondation d’Entreprise Hermès.
This international competition is open to artists from all disciplines: dance, theater, philosophy, poetry, puppetry, visual arts, new circus, performance…).
* Two rules: At least 3 people on stage; 10 minutes on stage maximum.
* Applications’ deadline is December 15th, 2019 on website
* The competition will take place in June 13th & 14th at the Espace Cardin - Paris (France).
Through five editions of the competition(and in ten minutes, or less, each time), we got to see
300 people enter then exit the stage ; a badminton match played by children; droves of jumpers who had previously only met on Internet; a drummer hammering away at his drum kit with sticks made of plaster ; twenty-five dog-walkers ; a sheep waiting his turn in the wings ; alligators in conversation with Dick Rivers ; replay France-Croatia 1998 ; a tribute to Chinese medicine ; aerobics ; a competition within the competition ; a wave of 40 b-boys / 20 bodies on a beach without landscape / 13 arcimboldo in a forest / the expunging of the moon in exactly ten minutes.
