For the first half of 2020, National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) is presenting over 40 programs, with tickets available for members from Sunday, December 1st, at a 25-percent discount. After the first five days, Weiwuying has sold near 10 thousand tickets, and tickets to Dacon.come's performances have entirely sold out. Now, non-members will also be able to purchase tickets. Issued for the first time, the 50 limited-edition “2020 Weiwuying TIFA: Contemporary Music Platform” ALL PASS will also be available. ALL PASS holders will not only be able to enjoy performances but also a peek backstage, with exclusive accesses to all eight programs and private events of the entire series and opportunities to meet and interact with artists.
As an art center for the people, Weiwuying is dedicated to creating an environment for audiences to approach the performing arts without burdens or restrictions. Since the opening last year, Weiwuying has offered limited periods of 25%-discounts every six months to programs organized by Weiwuying, bargains that allow audiences to enjoy the best discounts and the chance to choose their preferred seating. Tickets to performances such as Turandot and Kyogen with Mansaku Nomura and Mansai Nomura were sold out instantly during the early bird sales.
Apart from early-bird discounts to programs organized by Weiwuying, 2020 will be the second year of the “Weiwuying TIFA: Contemporary Music Platform” and also marks the first issuing of the ALL PASS. ALL PASS is available in a limited 50 sets and provides access to all eight performances in the series during the two-week-long performance during April. Furthermore, there will also be special private events for ALL PASS holders to meet the artists. Weiwuying hopes that ALL PASS holders will be able to transcend the boundary between stage and audience and dive deep into the heart of contemporary music.
Commenting on the issuing of the first ALL PASS, artistic director Chien Wen-Pin stated: “We hope that the comprehensive access of the ALL PASS will encourage ‘human connections’ between performers and audiences. At Weiwuying, contemporary music is not only a simple act of observance but also an opportunity for connection and dialogue.”
The 25-percent discount is only applicable to programs organized by Weiwuying (excluding the Showtime series and tickets priced below 300 NTD) and cannot be combined with other offers. The early-bird discount ends at noon (12 PM) Sunday, December 22nd, after which the tickets will return to their original pricing. Apart from regular Weiwuying member discounts, members of the National Theatre and Concert Hall and National Taichung Theater will also be given a 10-percent discount. The “Weiwuying TIFA: Contemporary Music Platform” ALL PASS is available in 50 sets while stocks last.
